The museum's name is inspired by the aviation pioneers, and it is dedicated to their achievements. The Wright Brothers National Museum is located on Carillon Park in Dayton, Ohio. The museum was originally the Wright Brothers Aviation Center, but it has recently undergone a name change to reflect its new national status. The renaming of the museum follows the bipartisan designation process led by Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio's 10th Congressional District.

There is a permanent exhibition of the Wrights, as well as rotating exhibits. Visitors can also explore the Wright Flyer III, which is the only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark. The museum is also home to the Wright Cycle Shop, which features a replica of the last bicycle shop of the brothers.

The museum also contains an exhibit of the original Wright Cycle Company building. The brothers' workshop used the coal gas as energy, unlike today's gasoline-powered engines. This engine provided energy for the tools in their shop, helping them develop the first airplane with controlled powered flight. It was a great accomplishment for the two men, and it was important to the world's aviation industry.

As of August 31, Dayton is officially the birthplace of aviation. The museum's renaming ceremony, hosted by Dayton History, included congressional man Michael Turner and local residents. The museum is home to more Wright Brothers artifacts than anywhere else. The Wright Flyer III is the only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark, and it was the world's first practical airplane.
